Engraving a message or date inside a ring
Engraving your engagement or wedding rings is one way to make your rings unique, making an already special piece of jewellery all the more personal to yourself.
Your engraved message from you to your partner will be with you both forever.
Engraving provides a unique, and beautiful, way to commemorate your engagement proposal or wedding day and celebrate by having carefully chosen words carved indelibly onto the inside of your rings.
We can also hand engrave on the outside of certain styled wedding rings.
Engraving a message or date inside a ring costs £20 per ring for up to 30 characters / spaces,
(except in cases where the finger size is very small or there are diamonds set, where there will be
less space available) and is written in script font. We can also engrave the outside of a ring for a charge
of £30.
We can also copy different fonts if you prefer something different to script.
Hand engraving
Be it presentational, sporting, commemorative or heraldic, you will not find a more enriching method of engraving than hand engraving. Most precious metal items can be hand engraved. We can carry out all your artwork requirements such as the layout of inscriptions, designing cyphers or monograms, heraldic designs, etc.
To explain in simple terms a little about hand engraving we shall break the process into four steps.
• First the design is composed and sketched onto the job.
• With the use of an eyeglass we point the design down using a metal scriber.
• Using hand held gravers (chisels) that have remained unchanged for hundreds of years we meticulously pare the material away, in doing so bringing the design to life.
• To remove any scratches we then polish the item on a polishing motor and mop using varies techniques to give the article a mirror finish without wearing down the fine engraving work.
Silver, gold, platinum, soft brass, copper silver-plate and pewter are suitable for hand engraving. Steel, titanium, most modern silver-plated items and anything with a pre-lacquered surface are all unsuitable for hand engraving.
When writing out your engraving instructions, please consider the following points:
Items: please give a brief description & the amount sent.
Positioning: i.e. is the ring to be engraved on the inside or outside.
Fonts: i.e. would you like the text in all upper case or a combination of lower and upper case. Never use all upper case for script fonts. We will assist you with the layout of inscriptions.
Delivery date: allow yourself an extra day or two for carriage. Approximately 1 week turnaround.

Unless instructed otherwise, all engraving layouts are at Image-In Jewels discretion.
Engraving instructions must be sent in writing/copy or email. We cannot accept any instructions verbally.
Metal Engraving
Our corporate engraving department has been well equipt with a range of computerised CAD CAM laser engraving machines to engrave large volumes of precious and semi-precious metal giftware. This service offers you a fast and cost effective method of branding your product with company logos and marketing messages. Any artwork and font can be replicated, from simple childs handwriting to the most complex badges, logos and decorative motifs, either as an outline or by using infill-shading techniques for more dramatic results. We can supply you with samples of your engraved design on nickel plaques before proceeding.
For setting up/importing any new artwork there is a one off origination charge, we then charge per logo at very competitive rates. Artwork can also be created for you.
Artwork Requirements:
• Ideally black & white, outline or blackout.
• We can accept almost any kind of file such dxf,hpgl, jpeg, gif, png and bmp but please ensure that the file does NOT exceed 3MB (3000 KB) when emailing. Should you have files larger that this, we would recommend you to send it to us on a CD-Rom. We can also scan artwork from hardcopies, i.e. bromide or high resolution print.
• If given as colour, greyscale or just poor quality, etc. we can still work from these but involves time spent redrawing which will increase cost. We can also generate artwork from colour or black & white photographs of any subject matter.
• We do not require the artwork to scale.
Can I return engraved items?
No - you cannot return engraved items unless the product is faulty and this is stated in our Returns Policy.
What if the engraved message on my item is incorrect?
The message that you type during the checkout process is exactly the message that will be engraved so you must ensure that you check what you have typed is correct and does not have any errors.
